St. Clair County 72^nd District Court Alternative Sentencing Programs

The 72^nd District Court operates 3 alternative sentencing programs: Work Program, Court Ordered Community Service and Community Service. An explanation of each of the programs is listed below.

The 72^nd District Work Program allows some non-violent, employed, offenders to remain free from incarceration by spending the required number of Saturday and Sunday’s completing various tasks for non-profit organizations within St. Clair County. The work is performed under the supervision of a Crew Chief and offenders are required to follow a strict set of rules and guidelines.

Court Ordered Community Service holds accountable those offenders who have been required to complete a certain number of hours of Community Service as part of their sentence. These offenders also work exclusively at non-profit, 501c3 organizations. Individuals sentenced under this program typically work one on one with the organization rather than in a Crew, with the supervision provided by the organization.

Community Service allows certain offenders, who have been legally declared indigent, to work off applicable Court Assessments via Community Service. The work is performed exclusively for 501c3 organizations under the supervision of the organization.
