11. What should I do if my deeded legal does not match the tax rolls? 

Map out both legal descriptions, they may match but are written differently.

12. How do I research an easement? 

You can use the public research room, they are usually recorded by the owner who placed the easement on the parcel. For utility easement, contact the utility company.

13. What should I do if my survey does not match my neighbors survey and creates overlaps and gaps? 

Go to your surveyor and have them go over the survey with you.

14. If I have a retired parcel, how do I find the new tax parcel numbers? 

In the BS&A system if you are viewing the parent parcel number, go into the 5.Misc tab, under Land Div. Info., comments, it will give you what the child parcel numbers are. From there you can go back and look at the new numbers to verify the legal to the deed. NOTE: you always need to put the parent parcel number on the deed to certify taxes for 5yrs prior, but then you can also add KNA (new number) and then code correctly.

15. Shouldn't all the County maps and GIS data be free? 

Much of it is freely viewable by the public via a home computer or at one of our County Libraries. The Parcel Viewer and the taxes and assessing search are a few of the examples of maps and data available online. For a more detailed explanation see the Enhanced Access to Public Records Policy
